THE BALD ONE
Parkway 1 - Torquay 1. The visitors scored in the 88th minute to equalise. ( gutted ) . Even though this was a friendly , I would go as far to say that this was possibly one of the best Parkway performances I have seen over the many years I have been following them. Great too see all of the subs used to ( not just for 10 mins either ) , it would have been so easy for the Management team to have kept the starting 11 out there and go for a big scalp of a victory. Not sure of the actual crowd and Im poor at guessing lol , so somewhere between 250 and 350.
RobinVanParkway
Summary from TUFC website... a little harsh but its only preseason. I thought Parkway played very well and if last night was anything to go by, exciting times ahead. Plymouth Parkway 1 Ethan Phillips Torquay United 1 Josh Gowling 88’ United completed their pre-season away trips with a 1-1 draw against Plymouth Parkway. Player-manager Kevin Nicholson gave game time to youngsters Austen Booth, Tallan Mitchell, Torquay Academy player Harry Bell, and trialists Sean Downing and Rory Fallon. The story of the game was simple; Plymouth Parkway scored fairly early in the first half, and then United spent the rest of the game trying to equalize. Kevin Nicholson rang the changes at half-time, bringing on Ryan Higgins, Josh Gowling, Luke Young, Jake Gosling, and Jon-Paul Pittman. Keating replaced Rory Fallon in the 60th minute, with Bell replacing Nicholson in the 72nd. Chances were few, however but for a last-ditch challenge for a Parkway defender, Ruairi Keating might have equalized much earlier than when Josh Gowling headed in a cross from Jon-Paul Pittman in the 88th minute. Parkway proved a tough opponent and it could be argued that they deserved to win the game, but for not pushing too hard for a second goal. Once they had scored, they held back and stayed organized and compact. We would like to thank Plymouth Parkway for their hospitality. United now look forward to Friday night when Truro City visit Plainmoor, (kick-off 7:30pm | Adults £10 | Over 65s & NUS Card Holders £7.50 | U18s £5) Plymouth Parkway Squad: 1 Kyle Moore; 2 Sam Hilson; 3 Mikey Williams; 4 Ben Davies; 5 John Heveren; 6 Jordan Trott; 7 Josh Tatersall; 8 Shane Krac; 9 Ethan Phillips; 10 Glynn Hobbs; 11 Ben Joyce Subs: 12 Luke Durham; 14 Nick Milton; 15 Aaron Bentley; 16 Callum Thompson; 17 Chris Popple; 18 Connor McAuley; GK Marcin Zilinski Torquay United: Neal Osborn; Jordan Lee; Kevin Nicholson (72’ Harry Bell); 5 Sean McGinty (46’ Josh Gowling); Austen Booth; Damon Lathrope (46’ Luke Young); Tallan Mitchell; Sean Downing (46’ Jake Gosling); 8 Sam Chaney (46’ Ryan Higgins); 10 Rory Fallon (60’ Rory Keating); Jamie Reid (46’ Jon-Paul Pittman) Good luck to Torquay Utd for the coming season
MattP
Good luck picking a Parkway starting 11 from that squad! Some serious depth there
frank de bouff
In spells, I thought Parkway were good. Took the lead and were hard to break down! I would be very surprised if they don't dominate the league this year?
scousemouse
Too many other strong teams in the league for them to dominate.
THE BALD ONE
Yes I for one agree scousemouse. There were many good teams last season and they have not gone away. For me, I will take promotion be it in first , second or third position. I think top 3 is a must with this squad.
