Piran
Who was your football hero when you were at school? Mine was Terry Pain, closely followed by Mick Channon. Both played for Southampton and England. I never met Paine, but I did rub shoulders with Mick at the Salisbury racecourse meetings on a number of occasions, when I would sweep down the stands. Imagine that you played a couple of games with them. Wow! Well, Steve Massey did. He recalls with an almost complete reverence the three games he played with George Best as an 18 year old at Stockport County. Piran
Yes, it is Paine. I have his autobiography "Constant Paine" on my shelf above, that I read a few years ago.
