pastyman
Saltash United V Cullompton Rangers Wednesday 30th August 2017 Line-up:Rickard,Barker,Sargison,Leary,O'Brien,Wilson, King(Lewis 45),Farrant,Hughes(Young 88),Richards,Bass (Menhenick 81). Bookings:King. Attendance:70 Result:Ashes 2 Cullompton Rangers 0 Scorers:Bass(51),Farrant(90+4) The first half was a very poor affair with very little good football from either side with Cullompton Rangers being the happier of the two sides with the score 0-0 at half-time.The one player who did have a good half was Henry Wilson who never stopped running the whole 45 minutes. The second half the Ashes showed more determination and took the lead on 51 minutes when Jamie Bass ran from his own half down the left, cut in and scored with a one on one with the keeper. The Ashes had to wait until time added on to increase their leadwhen Danny Lewis was brought down from behind just outside the area and Sam Farrant stepped up to take the free-kick and scored direct from it. Friday 25th August 2017 v Callington Town(away) SWPL (Premier Division) Line-up:Shields,Barker,Menhenick,Leary(O'Brien83),Russell, Trott(Wilson76),Farrant,Lewis(c),Hughes,Richards,Bass. Bookings:Russell,Lewis,Leary,Bass. Attendance:129 Result:Callington town 2 Ashes 2. Scorers:Russell (25),Menhenick (41). Talk about a game of two halves, the Ashes were in complete control of the first half, infact Callington never had a shot at goal. The Ashes went in at half-time 2-0 up with goal from Russell and Menhenick. The second half was a completely different story with Callington pulling a goal back on 49 minutes when the Ashes keeper failed to hold a cross. It became 2-2 on 56 minutes when Callington scored from the penalty spot. The Ashes had a great chance to go ahead on 61 minutes from the penalty spot but the home keeper saved with his legs from Ryan Richards.Verdict:2 points dropped.
