The Ashes had the upper hand for most of a poor game. The visitors came with a plan to stop the Ashes playing any sought of flowing football by slowing the game down. All the chances in the first 45 minutes fell to the Ashes with Dave Trott and Ryan Richards seeing efforts go just wide.Dave Barker had a clear cut chance on 32 minutes but blasted over the bar. With 4 minutes to go to half-time Danny Lewis put in a strong run and shot that the visiting keeper had to put over the bar. The second half started as the first finished with the Ashes doing all the attacking. The first chance came on 50 minutes when Lewis Russell let fly from distance only to see the ball just clear the bar.The best chance of the half came on 60 minutes when good work from Sam Hughes who played the ball to Richard Maddison who then played a superb ball to the on rushing Ryan Richards but his effort like so many before it sailed over the bar. With 15 minutes left the breakthrough came when a Sam Farrant free-kick wide on the left found Callum O'Brien at the far post to nod home the winner. The Ashes held out for the last 15 minutes when Odd Down threw men forward to try for an equaliser. The one poor point for the Ashes was the number of free-kicks given away.
