Liskeard v Wendron 

The pitch at Liskeard looked marvellous today!
The first half started with both teams trying to play short passing football, with very few long balls being played by either team. Both teams enjoyed good spells of possession in the half but there wasn't many scoring chances. That was until Liskeard scored and absolute screamer from distance which left the very young Wendron Keeper with no chance. Liskeard 7 (Waters) had great opportunity to double the score but his tame header went straight to the keeper. I was particularly impressed with the Liskeard 6 (Firefiory) who played in a deep midfield role and never gave the ball away. He quietly and effectively dictated an awful lot of the play in the first half.

The second half saw Wendron start well and have a good 10 minute period where they controlled the game and had a couple of chances but couldn't score. The Wendron Keeper than had a nightmare!! He came out of his box to clear a through ball and completely missed it, leaving the lively Liskeard 8 (Lorenz) to run the ball into the empty goal. Wendron responded well and got one back when a long range shot struck the woodwork and a Wendron player smashed the rebound in from a tight angle.
The last 30 minutes Liskeard completely controlled and bossed the game. The Wendron players appeared to tire and just couldn't compete any more. Liskeard rattled in three more goals to make this look like a very convincing victory.

Man of the match - I was really impressed by Liskeards 8 (Lorenz). He scored a hat trick, was fast, lively, competitive and got yellow carded. For Wendron only the big 6 (Ringrose) in centre midfield had a performance today that was worthy of recognition. He stood out as there best player. He worked hard, battled, had a great first touch and lead by example.  He could clearly play at a much higher level. Wendron will do well to hang on to him this season.

Only two yellow cards in the game.
