Few strange comments, do people not look out of their windows! All clubs know that they need to get games played due to league sizes and cup commitments. Nobody wants to call off a game but any decent grounds man can tell now whether the pitch is playable for tomorrow. It’s courteous to give as much notice as possible to players, supporters and officials so they can make other plans if necessary.

Much the same on the North coast Dave too wet to fix after last week. Did get some marking done very early today maybe to no avail. Have a boat but difficult to find a pair of unicorns

Yup, tried to get a machine on ours yesterday, would have made more mess than the pitch is already from last week!

I wonder sometimes where people think the rain goes after its fallen from the sky..lol

If groundsman like Older and Gregs say the pitches are doubtful we should all listen!! Common sense to call it off as early as possible would have thought, for all concerned. Well done to Penzance for leading the way. Players who have young families can get some brownie points off the missus to spend a Saturday afternoon with them for a change. Referees can get appointed to another game that may have survived (big shortage of refs atm). Players travelling a long way to play for their team won’t start their journey. Number of reasons really and the gents that spend hours of their own time working hard on the pitches each week have the right not to see it get wrecked for the sake of fitting a game in in November! Unfortunate non stop rain, yes but need to panic yet, no! It’s 6 months until mid May!! I’m sure the games will be fitted in somewhere without wrecking your pitch for a month! Only my opinion mind 👍

Disapointing that we have had to call of our match with Saltash tomorrow. The pitch was cut Monday and Tuesday and looked nice after being torn up after the senior cup win over Hayle. But the pitch had recovered well with a roll and cut and some repair work with a fork. But this rain has ruined any chance of not having a single first team fixture cancelled. This morning the pitch was starting to hold water and by 4pm the goal mouth and the middle of the pitch was swamped. With the forcast next week not looking great it could be a long few weeks. Big games over the xmas period to prepare for and ensure some good crowds and much needed money for local clubs.

Could be some interesting comments on here reference the one game of the day that took place.
We were amazed to see the team sheets that  showed no less than eight ex Sticker players were involved in the game , scoring 3 goals for Wadebridge and one for Falmouth.
No wonder Sticker are struggling in the league  if they are losing players of that calibre.
Well done Wadebridge in what we thought was an entertaining game, and thanks to Falmouth for giving us somwhere to go to watch a game.

Town deffinitly  not at the races today ,possibly with one eye on next week's vase match at christchurch our tackling was poor and we gave wadebridge too much time and space .Credit to the bridgers who ran their socks off .An after the Lord mayor's show performance from town ,but they will pick themselves up and hopefully do the  county proud next week .Apparently  christchurch average home gate is 65 ,could be double that from Falmouth alone .Can't wait !  UTT

Falmouth Town 3, Wadebridge Town 4

What a cracker! Huge, huge congrats to the ground staff for getting this match on - the surface cut up, but I've seen worse - and one or two players lost their footing once or twice, but it was an end-to-end game, expertly reffed.

The 1st 40 minutes belonged to Wadebridge:

They hit the bar on 5m, saw a near post header flash a foot wide on 14; then Fal's No 10 put a 1 on 1 wide (16). Wade again, an effort just wide from a long throw on 28; and the possession was very much in Wadebridge's favour. Then what turned out to be the goal of the game, a 25yd-er from their No 2 that went in off the far post on 40m. A deserved lead, thrown away a minute later as Fal swept through to equalise.

Fal took an early 2nd half lead on 50 (Scorer ??) and saw an effort skim the bar 2 mins later. Now Fal were kicking into the F-Troop end so the excitement mounted. Then on 54 Wade were awarded a pen, duly saved only for the visiting 'keeper to have to make a save on 57. Then another example of the folly of "building from the back" (remember, the surface was treacherous by now) and Wade equalised on 64 after possession at the back was lost and wallop! 2 - 2! Fal saw a header from a right-wing cross headed wide on 69 and the F-Troop were thrilled by the award and scoring of a penalty in the 72nd for 3 - 2. That came from a "b-f-t-b" error by a Wade defender this time: instead of hoofing it away from the edge of a crowded box he tried to play football, lost it, melee, GK forced to challenge and committed the foul. Then 2 mad minutes for the home side as a long throw on 76 was headed home at the far post for 3 - 3, then some tireless chasing and running from their No 10  led to his pass to No 7 who scored for 3 - 4.

The F-Troop were magnificent in their support and pragmatism: "Three-two, and we mucked it, three-two, and we mucked it up!" they sang (I paraphrase)!

On 79, a Fal corner led to a far post header going wide and on 90+5 a weird looping back header (I think) JUST missed the top corner.

Brilliant entertaining stuff!

I have to add, the F-Troop made the entertainment more like a much higher level league game. They sang, were innovative, funny, honest; and despite the obvious disappointment of losing, they cheered their team enthusiastically after the game. A credit to the game. I have to say, far more atmosphere than I have experienced at Truro this season.

SWPL Premier Division East

Torpoint Athletic 8-1 Torrington

Torpoint Athletic went up to third place in SWPL Premier Division East as they comprehensively beat second from bottom Torrington, in front of a 118 attendance writes Robbie Morris.

It was a great job by the groundsman to get the game on, on a Saturday where only 3 matches survived the SWPL.

The match was only three minutes old when Paul Heveran opened the scoring from a Lee Bevan corner as he fired home from 18 yards.

On the 25th minute, Heveran doubled the hosts lead, as he shot home from a lovely pass by Lewis Young.

On the half hour mark, Young dribble through defence to extend the lead.

Right after the restart, Joe Barker reduces the arrears for the visitors as he shot home from 15 yards.

Just after the hour mark, Paul Heveran had a free kick for his Hattrick, which was a bullet and give the wall and visiting keeper Will Tallamy no chance.

Six minutes later, Elliot Crawford hit a rasping shot to make the score 5-1.

Four minutes later, Lee Hawkins shot home from 18 yards after Darren Hicks, flicked the ball on.

With ten minutes remaining, Danny Zalick shoots home from 6 yards after a good pass in by Lewis Kershaw.

Finally in injury time, Gary Hird shot home from 10 yards to complete the rout.

No need for me to add much to Tom's post!

Just to perhaps fill in the names really -

Wadebridge first goal coming from Lewis Prince - a well struck shot giving Barnes no chance!

Falmouth's quick-fire equaliser coming from Luke Brabyn - although I heard it given to Bowyer on the radio when I was driving home.

Then it was Jack Bowyer who made no mistake to give Falmouth the lead.

Barnes then saved a Kieran Rowe penalty but Wadebridge pulled back level after Matt Lloyd made the most of Toby Clark's indecision to clear, the Wadebridge striker squared the ball to Andy Butler to score.

Falmouth back in front through Brabyn's penalty but credit to Wadebridge who left with all three points thanks to Lloyd getting on the score sheet before Callum Bertrand hit home the winner.

Cracking game on a wet but definitely playable surface. Ref Neil Hunnislett not showing any cards either and so a well done to all involved. Including once again the Falmouth ground staff, although the Charity Cup midweek game could be in doubt! :)

Best road in truro is the one that takes  you past langarth ,so we can all admire the new stadium for the pirates being built .oh sorry they still haven't  started have they .😁😂🤣

White elephant ... Will never happen. No sports club in Cornwall well supported enough to see it make profit .

Hence the very very long delay in getting even a block laid.

It's a sporting backwater down here,  apart from a few good old pro's who have moved down here, & a sprinkling of local talent that's made it in the professional football world Cornwall is second rate in terms of football & will be for the foreseeable future.

Was really hoping that old chestnut wasn't going to be aired, on the day Falmouth were not good enough to beat the bridgers, and like any other team they will have their off days regardless of where they are playing the following week.       Suffice to say that we wish Falmouth all the best with their trip to Christchurch, and hope they come back with a win under their belt, but if you don't we hope it won't be because of worrying about your next game against Callington. 😜

That's as honest as it gets Tom. A great write up and it goes to prove, the F-troop are not a bad old bunch !. We actually cheered Wadebridge off at the end because they put in a totally hard working honest performance in the mud of Bickland park and deserved their hard fought victory.
