Big Fish, little pond, no ambition syndrome, which unfortunately for cornish football seems to be the attitude of a few cornish clubs who seek to avoid promotion on financial grounds.
Perhaps if money was used for traveling instead of lining the pockets of mercenaries with hand outs, maybe just maybe the supporters would be provided with a higher standard of football at no extra cost to the clubs.
We have been to clubs over the years where players are being paid good money , in the hope of a club winning something, yet the supporters facilities are abysmal and are treated as second class citizens who don't matter once they have passed the pay desk.
As a matter of interest, we posted information on another thread   ( After F.A. move club resigns from league ) that gave all the contact details Twitter, email telephone and extension number of Matt Edkins who is the main contact for the Pyramid System, did any club or club member bother to make contact to discuss the system that they declare is too expensive to partake in for clubs in the extreme south west ? or is the preferred option to do nothing except complain about the system ? just asking.

Good post, do disagree with the point about supporters facilities being abysmal though, think there has been a real improvement over the past few seasons at quite a few clubs. The obvious one is my club (Parkway) where it is now a superb match day experience, but others that come immediately to mind as having made big steps forward are Sticker, Callington, Camelford, Ivybridge and Elburton Villa. Sure there are plenty more, think this is possibly worthy of a new thread.

The point is that yes there are some clubs who have worked hard and with the aid of grants have made the match day experience for supporters a worthwhile one, whilst some others have put supporters at the bottom of the list and pay silly money to egostistic players who move on when the money runs out, leaving the club high and dry financially.
It's beeen mentioned on this forum before that clubs in the Western League don't pay anything like the fees being bandied around in thr Peninsula Premier League.
It's interesting that you mention Callington and Sticker in your post, two teams who  judging by their league position have chosen to spend their money on facilities rather than players brown envelopes, well done them long may their  financial ethos continue.
Buying a cup or league championship is a one way ticket to problems of a financial nature as those who have travelled down that route  can confirm if they are honest with themselves.
The unfortunate thing is that when one club meets the inevitable end of the financial spending spree and players move on, another takes over and the circle of events start all over again.
Sorry to say that until priorities are sorted out, this will be the future of football in Cornwall.

Can think of one Cornish club (often mentioned on here) who have been very successful on the pitch over the past ten years, and who (in the opinion of many) pay large "expenses", but their ground and  facilities leave a bit to be desired.

Quite so and a perfect example of our concerns for cornish football, and although the club we think you are referring to is probably the most up to date casualty, they are certainly not guilty of being the only ones to slide down that particular route.
The end product has reared its ugly head on so many occasions, and yet like the proverbial turkey voting for christmas, others are seemingly eager to follow in their wake.

Watched a my first game in several weeks @ Poltair on Saturday and still stand by my comments that Mousehole are the best footballing team I have watched this season.

If they were a little more clinical in front of goal, they’d certainly be the team to beat.

St Austell deserve some credit for hanging in there and battling well but were 2nd best for most of this game.

All in all, a good game to come back to.
