SWPL 2020-21 fixtures are out - proposed start 5th September 2020

Recommended Posts

You're probably all aware that the fixtures are out for the SWPL and can be found on the league's website https://www.swpleague.co.uk/

Points to note at this stage from Phil Hiscox, League Secretary:-

1) It must be stressed that the FA have said games will only restart if spectators are allowed and at this time the DCMS are in possession of the FA’s proposal, but have not yet responded. If the DCMS say no or put restrictions on matters then the FA will have to look at it again.

2) Clubs will see added additional midweek games into November and they have been doubled up on Christmas & Easter.

Cup Dates:

Allowance made for FA Vase dates for entrants on both Sat 19th September and Sat 10th October, further round dates have not been released by the FA, but will obviously depend on which clubs are still involved after those first two rounds.

Cornish clubs (inc Millbrook & Torpoint) have a blank date on 7th November for the Senior Cup and many also have a blank date on the next rd date of Jan 2nd. No spaces have been allocated for the Cornwall Charity Cup with CCFA set to rule on their own competitions in due course.

Devon clubs entering the St Lukes Bowl have been given the opportunity to enter or not to enter this year, as such I have not allowed any midweek specific dates, but will re-visit this when we know which clubs have entered and how that affects the draws for that Cup.

WALTER C PARSON CUP 2019/20

The board have considered the announced changes by the FA issued last Saturday and have had to consider that the proposed August completion of last years Cup cannot go ahead. In affect the matches if played in August would have had to be behind closed doors and would have had to be played without even partial access to dressing rooms etc, the grounds would also need to have completed risk assessments earlier than for a September start and the 3 neutral venues would have had to carry the risk of in affect staging other teams games. We looked at putting the games back again, but with football due to restart in September and FA Cup & Vase dates etc it is felt that September should be used for getting the new season started and not for playing last seasons games. We apologise for this but feel we have no choice.

Thanks to the wonderful support of Cup sponsors Walter C Parson Funeral Directors having paid the sponsorship we are however able to pay out £300 prize money to each of Bovey Tracey, Elmore, Falmouth Town & Millbrook and a sum to Mousehole less the mileage subsidy they have already recd for the trip to Bovey Tracey that they will now not have to make.

WALTER C PARSON CUP 2020/21

The board have agreed that although we are not playing the league cup during the season due to the late start, we will instead have an end of season tournament with full prize money, plus £600 travel subsidy to be shared by the 4 Away quarter finalists.
