Camelford 3-1 Dartmouth

Bit apprehensive for this one as Camels missing 4 starting players, but turned out a very entertaining game.

4 goals, 3 Red Cards and some very good football

Camels dominated early on but went 1 down from a break and a quality finish. Dartmouth had three pacy young lads up front who were all good players and threatened all game (without any real chances). Camels equalised through a Gus goal following a quality defence splitting pass by Ed and then went 2-1 from a Bobby free kick on the edge of the box. Camels squandered a few chances and finished 2-1 at HT

Second half saw Dartmouth start well - long balls and pace but never really threatened Buster  First red card was for a high tackle by Dartmouth defender - not ‘nasty’ but above the knee and reckless

Camels scored from another Bobby free kick from 35yds on the touch line - shortly followed by a red card for Gus for two yellows

Camels had control of the game and Ryan was through on goal - chipped keeper who handled outside the area  - straight red.

Game finished 3-1

It was not a dirty game at all, but all three reds were correct !?!?!?! I actually thought the officials had a good game - got away a little because of frustration from the players - but he had little choice.

Good luck to Dartmouth for the season

Callington Town 2 Bodmin Town 6

Landricombe hat trick and a walk in park for the visitors, who coasted through the second half, after being 4 up at HT. Six goals away from home and only needed to be in second or third gear.

Cally can play some nice stuff, but when they fall behind they often look out of games too soon. They imported a team of Plymouth boys. Maybe they didn't import team spirit to go with it?

Torpoint 6 Newquay 2

After 30 minutes of this game, there had not been one meaningful shot. An hour later there had been six goals.
Newquay’s tactics were to stifle the game, crowd the middle of the park so leaving their right winger free to run at the home defence. Along with some robust challenges, their tactics worked until the half hour mark and then Torpoint scored two good goals in quick succession to bring a dour first half to an end.

At two down Newquay were forced to change their game plan and be more open and the second 45 was very good entertainment from both sides for a decent sized crowd. The front two for Torpoint were both outstanding, putting in great shifts individually and as a partnership.  Some clinical finishing saw them get the win despite almost letting the visitors back in it by some sloppy defending.

It’s clear the recent loss of two influential players has hit Newquay hard, and for Torpoint if they are allowed to play then they can hurt most teams at this level.

Won't talk about Cally as they have already had plenty of space on here devoted to them lately, but have Bodmin turned the corner? A few wins have sent them several places up the table. Falmouth are disappearing over the horizon but are the clubs in the bunch behind them looking over their shoulders?

Wasn't there so didn't see it, but how did Bodmin coast the second half and yet let in 2 goals. In theory the 2nd half finished 2-2.

Coasted, as in took their foot off the gas and game stayed firmly won....game was won before HT. Drawing a second half after a first half debacle a common occurance.

I was a neutral at the game, but have seen about 4 Cally home games this season already. Patterns seem to be repeating themselves.

Not a Bodmin fan, but some decent performances and results of late  They were boosted by Levi L today. Their problem seems to be so many ins/outs personnel wise.  Today they did all that was needed with some efficiency.

Walter C Parson South West Peninsula League Cup round one

St Blazey 6 (Reski 28,56; Giles 51,60; Marks 42; McGhee 78)

Penzance 0

A brace each for Chris Reski and Martin Giles helped St Blazey hit Penzance for six at Blaise Park as Phil Lafferty's side booked their place in the second round.

The Green and Blacks scored twice in the first period, with the tie wrapped up when three further goals arrived shortly after the interval. Despite the one-sided final scoreline, Penzance striker Ezra Savage was left to rue two missed chances that fell between Reski breaking the deadlock and Kyle Marks doubling the hosts' advantage.

Blazey came into the match on the back of a 2-0 win at local rivals Sticker in their last outing while Penzance were defeated 3-1 by Dobwalls at Penlee Park seven days previously. Before kick-off, Blazey announced that previously dual-registered midfielder Callum McGhee had moved to Blaise Park from Southern League outfit Bideford on a permanent basis, with the former Bodmin Town man named as a substitute.

The opening exchanges, in front of a healthy crowd of 164, were dominated by Blazey and after just 12 minutes, Marks headed just wide from Olly Brokenshire's deep cross. Home skipper Neil Slateford was the next to eye Shaun Carter's goal, with the visiting custodian doing well to keep the score at 0-0. However, Carter couldn't prevent Reski breaking the deadlock just shy of the half hour mark. The evergreen midfielder pounced on Penzance full-back Tyler Buckley's weak headed clearance to control and turn, before finding the mark.

Just three minutes after falling behind, Penzance should have drawn level with Savage missing his first gilt-edge chance. Brokenshire was robbed of possesion in the centre circle and after a defence splitting pass, Savage was in on goal. At the vital moment, the Magpies' number nine lost his composure and could only fire wide. Less than a minute later, Savage caught Blazey napping again but on this occasion, with just Chapman to beat again, Savage was denied by the Blazey stopper's legs.

Those missed chances cost Penzance dear as before Kevin McCallion blazed over from Liam Eddy's cut back, Marks doubled the Green and Blacks advantage two minutes shy of the break. Eddy, who did everything but score in an impressive showing, found Marks with a raking cross-field pass and the winger, who moved to Blaise Park from St Dennis in the summer, controlled the ball and his powerful low effort found the mark, via the inside of Carter's far post.

Straight after the turnaround, Marks crashed a long-range effort off the crossbar and Eddy broke free to only be denied by Carter. It was a case of when, rather than if Blazey would add a third and it duly arrived when Reski's deep corner was headed home by an unmarked Giles. Penzance nearly grabbed a lifeline on 55 minutes when Josh Turner's cross-cum-shot went narrowly wide and from the resulting goal kick, Eddy claimed his second assist when he played in Reski who duly dispatched.

Blazey were rampant at this point with Marks' trickery causing Penzance all sorts of problems. He was upended just to the right of the Penzance box and with Reski now replaced, Slateford took over the dead-ball duties and his free-kick found Giles who repeated his earlier dose. The game and progression into the next round was secure, with Lafferty handing a senior debut to teenager Rio Ward, who impressed in a 15 minute cameo.

McGhee was also thrust into the fray in the second period and he rounded off the scoring 12 minutes from time with a stunning free-kick. Slateford was crudely stopped in his tracks on the edge of Penzance's area and up-stepped McGhee to fire into the top right corner, leaving Carter rooted to the spot.

The final word nearly went to Anthony Reynolds' men when Jacob Cleverley's pile-driver hit the bar and bounced to safety and even if the visitors had grabbed a late consolation, it wouldn't have taken the gloss off arguably Blazey's best performance of the season to date.

St Blazey: Chapman, Tinsley, Burdon, Brokenshire (Ward, 74), Giles, Rosevear, Reski (McGhee, 63), Slateford, McCallion (Jarvis, 56), Eddy, Marks. Sub not used: Kenny.

Penzance: Carter, Buckley, McCabe, Lawrence, Grant, Ralph, Cleverley, A Turner, Savage, J Turner, Jefferies (Kaya, 60). Subs not used: Vercesi, Jacobson.

Referee: Jonathan Green.

Attendance: 164.

I two watched, from the clubhouse! With a lovely cup of tea. I must admit, if it wasn’t for a keepers slip in the box to allow and free header & a deflected effort to wrong foot the keeper the game would have been much tighter.

think your comment is off the mark, Callington poor for large spells, agreed but nothing to do with team spirit I wouldn’t have thought

Ryan Richards up front for torpoint won’t find and better striker in both leagues and arguably should be playing southern league with parkway.

Comfortable win for the home side, decent size crowd with several St.Austell supporters watching their 'old boys' in green shirts and no doubt wishing they were back playing in white at Poltair.

Once again the playing surface and cirounds looking immaculate at Blaise Park.

David my dear! You just don't get it do you? A prime example as to why football in this county is behind the Times. Make sure you get your Blazer ready for the next outing.

Newquay have struggled with so many absent regulars being away for whatever reason; Harry Ashton is the keepe (out injured last 3/4weeks) Pinnel, Louis price (suspended wrongly) Aaron Dilley (massive miss, had been away for a while) Conor Jamison and recently two creative players on Bray evans and Orlando have departed. It’s obviously that a team is going to struggle with this inconsistency of availability. At least they’ve got the loyal core that will be there to help out, some of the numbers I’m hearing from proper sources for match fees given to players recently is disgraceful, hardly any loyalty now days, I can understand moving for better standard, trophies but when it’s pure money it just ruins the game, and I’m talking big big money for below average players at the bottom of the swpl league, who are probably combo players at best.  Will never understand why someone would want to throw their hard earned money for a team to finish mid table or below…

Who exactly are you talking about, don't be afraid to name these clubs... Can't be helston because they're a league above top 5 with games in hand? Can't be Falmouth because they're running away with the west side. I'm only assuming these clubs because you've mentioned Newquay who have lost players recently to well, better clubs. Newquay have always been an average club. Now they lost a few of their best players could be a tough season for them.

But I agree, some of the rumours you hear about money be dished out is rediculas.

People on here on about Orlando playing well yesterday is that  the 31 mins he played yesterday as a sub ,i think hes very overated and was used mostly as a sub at Newquay ,Massey just signed him to stop Dane getting him ,Orlando wont get a lot of games at Helston because theres lots better players there then him you just got to look at the big squad Helston have and the young players that have left 3 for example Tonkin to Wadebridge ,Wharton to Falmouth and Flack to Sticker .Newquay goalie is not only a great goalie hes a really nice bloke as well and always has time for a chat hope hes back for Newquay soon they need him Nathan Prentice makes too many mistakes .When Newquay have there full team out they take some beating but losing JBE has cost them he is ireplacable Orlando not so much Have heard Louis Price will be the next Newquay player off to Pastures new . At least NEWQUAY didnt get the Gs Matty Walker he is happy a the club and is staying ,heard ex G goalie Dale England is performing wonders at Bodmin Mom 3 times best goalie i had seen in a long time Will see what hes like in a couple of weeks when the formidable Falmouth turn up with there firepower and the brillint fans F troop

I’m not talking about any teams in the higher leagues, there are teams in the same league as Newquay who are at the bottom half who to my good knowledge are paying very under par players very good money, I won’t name out of respect to those I heard the info off. FairPlay if your paying big money to win and have ambitions, but I don’t get it when your throwing money at bad players to finish mid table at best, why not just promote youth, I also have the same thought on dual signings there should be a rule out in place.

Newquay have always produced very good youngsters through the youth system ( Hayden Turner, McConie, Jack bray evans, Lewis Hilton, Lowrys, James ward, Ryan’ Barnes, gosling etc) but have never been able to get winning men’s team out.

imo Falmouth are a club doing it right, got the best group of players form around the county, youth and experience, good support and ambition.

Newquay have always produced good players and internationals as well like Chris Morris who went on to play for Republic of Ireland i have been watching Newquay for over 60 years and my grandad and dad was associated with the club for many years. Newquay continue to produce exciting youngsters but the G have got this youngster and he will have bigger clubs looking at him i reckon hes better than Orlando .I think its bad when a manager signs a player from a club just to stop another manager from not getting him and paying him rediculous money . The Falmouth team have had the same core of players for many years like Saltash ,thats what brings sucess not lots of cash being offered to average players

Guess that's these teams own undoing then, if they want to give these players big money for poor performances then so be it. But you're right there isn't any loyalty in the game anymore, the amount of times you see players coming and going from club to club is embarrassing. Falmouth have got it right, and recruiting well. But it's good to see a few different clubs now having a little success likes of Liskeard, Camelford rather than the usual culprits who just throw money at players.

Mass thinks different about Orlando and has a clear plan for him, I think he will go on to prove the doubters wrong. Price, ashton and Fallens all should be higher level think team will be picked apart by mousehole, saltash, helston and falmouth by end of season.

If it wasn’t for this, if it wasn’t for that, how far and how many excuses can Callington continue to use, look like most weeks they are using 6/7 players from the reserves.

Outclassed first half and Bodmin never got out of first gear in the second but didn’t have to.

Agree Callington do play some nice stuff at times but most of it is side ways and backwards which always looks better than what it is.

Feel they got a long way to go before things begin to remotely get better.

Seems your view concurs with mine. Bodmin hit 6 without ever getting out of second gear mostly.

I think Cally are better than league position suggests but they seem to have forgotten how to win. You may be right Teflon. The pretty football, at times, is in areas that don't hurt the opposition. They are, however, players not as good as bigged up by Hayden & Vincent at Blazey or Callington.
