Dave Deacon
Tom Harris of the Packet Newspaper breaks the news of a new signing for Helston :- “Helston Athletic have completed the signing of Jordan Bentley from South West Peninsula League outfit Bodmin Town.”
Ian Pethick
Someone that never seems to stick around anywhere for long. Unfortunately, will probably never be the player he should have been after the nasty injury he suffered in training at Argyle (bad leg break suffered in collision with a goalkeeper). sportsman10
There plenty of defenders I would say are miles better then Bentley playing in Cornwall that helston could have got. Very true, however, Bentley is certainly a step up from Ryan Beattie. Footy follower

Tavi Fan
Think that’s harsh on Bentley. don’t watch much SWPL but Jordan Bentley has always looked fairly decent when I’ve seen him.

Ward and Toby Clarke for a start miles better maybe out of Massey reach but I guess if he wants his team to be the best he try and get them. Even Callum o Brian now at torpoint is better . I’ve seen Bentley a few times for parkway and he struggled just not sure he much better then they have already le boss, Henning Berg and Footy follower 2
play for the badge
bentley should walk in that heldton defence the two lumpy centre backs have been their problem from what I’ve seen this season. running and passing a big part of football and the helston centre backs struggle to do either Informed

The Observer__
Be interesting to see which defenders get called up to the Cornwall squad for the game with Devon soon
JonColenzo
I’d agree, Callum O’Brien certainly one of the best CB’s in the county but with his Saltash links highly unlikely to venture to Helston, looking forward to who’s selected for Cornwall squad. Does anyone know what the qualifying criteria is for being available? (What Step is eligible) Potentially players who have also represented Kernow FA? Dave Deacon
Eligibility criteria posted on the original post on Announcements page. I would imagine having played for Kernow FA won’t make any difference.

Bobjfh
Dave - Glyn’s comments on your podcast were telling - hopefully he (and his team) will select players from a lot of teams - bottom line is we won’t all agree (as he said), but a good range of clubs would be nice and ensure good support. Beg to differ on that. Ward has already left Falmouth before for the riches of Plymouth Parkway so its never a definite he wouldn't leave. Massey has never been afraid to back himself financially so I'm sure he could persuade both of them to leave if he really wanted to as money always talks. Reality is both are probably enjoying things at Falmouth. Winning every week (apart from Saturday), playing in front of healthy crowds, not really having to get out of third gear every game, playing for likeable Manager and travelling far less. The issue will be next season. With promotion having to be taken, how many will stay at Falmouth when a few could jump ship to a team 20 minutes down the road playing in the same league but playing 3 times the money. While it is probable that some Falmouth players will move on, just as likely that Town attract some from other Cornish step 5 clubs. Hasn't Mark Goldsworthy been linked with them in the past, and been spotted in the crowd at Bickland Park? Town Fan and mattelot
