Darren Gilbert and Bodmin Town has done a lot of good for Cornish football over the years, there is no denying that, but it’s very difficult to keep that success going without having strong club foundations. Successful teams these days seem to based around a certain philosophy ie signing local players, bringing players through ranks, gradually building club along with the 1st team, self funding ie gate receipts, youth teams, etc. The times of one or two people bankrolling a club is not considered by many as the right way forward, as it’s reliance is always hanging over the club. If Bodmin sort out a reserve team for next season, in my eyes that would be great start for Bodmin’s new future.

It does not matter what others think it's the idea that for the main team to work that other teams in that club have to provide players that can be promoted to that team. Other wise it's down to personality or money. Or a good Manager/ coach to unearth a nugget or two from lower leagues. Have to agree with the above poster

Very much the end of an era at Bodmin.

Would be interesting if someone could put together a complete honours board of Darren Gilbert's silverware, both playing and managing.

Also interesting to see a list of players who have played under Darren’s management over the years like the ex pro players and the younger players who like another post says who went on to play higher level
