THEMAGPIE
Trundled down to Penlee Park tonight to take in some welcome midweek football under the lights, St Blazey were in town and I think everyone secretly came to see plenty of quality and goals as they’re league position proclaims! Well we got neither really to be honest, Blazey from the off seemed organised and well drilled with the ever present Eddy and Buckley always a threat, Penzance going again with the lone Richards up top seemed reasonably organised across the board with Mark Vercesi back in the centre of defence, Blazey threatened on numerous occasions and will feel aggrieved at the linesman who misjudged 2/3 clear cut opportunities for offside, Blazey took the lead in the first half through the second attempt not against the run of play but Penzance having plenty of ball but never really looked a threat from open play. Second half with no Eddy?? and Silas Sullivan pulling one back around the hour mark, Penzance back in it and Blazey looking very average at best, Vercesi then gets sent off for a strong challenge in the box resulting in a penalty, both actions then change the dynamics of the game, Penzance spend the rest of the half with 10 men and a lack of options from the bench to really affect anything, Blazey score again to wrap it up despite the resilience from Trenoweth in goal for Penzance. I still think the management look very sparse tactically and way below par on players of any real quality, lots of effort but just lacking anyone of any real presence and composure or authority, the bench options says it all really, still haven’t seen any real improvement in my opinion but a valiant effort. Gary Hocking
It all seems to have gone a bit quiet in terms of the Helston <-> Penzance link-up. If Penzance are featuring Helston squad members it doesn’t seem to be helping them much. Was at the Launceston Dobwalls match - one of those games which could easily have gone either way by a single goal but both of Launceston’s goals were absolutely first class so for my money they deserved the three points. What’s with the Dobwalls management celebrating in front of the Launceston dugout though? Leaves a sour taste in the mouth. cornish leg end
Well done Launceston I’d say a shock result but Dobwalls can be very hit and miss. supportcornishfootball

Losing 3-1 with 10 men to blazey is a good result, bit of strange comment to blame the management as they can only play wots available to them on the day,but the way blazey play that could of been a hiding n then some. Yes, given the ructions that this arrangement caused at the time, how many Helston players have actually played for Penzance this season? Are St Blazey and PZ not in the same league ? Let’s go into a league game and think let’s only lose 4-0 as that will be good . That’s maybe why some teams are getting hidings at senior level
