Quiet Man
Goals galore at Bickland Park today. 1 all at half time, Falmouth then scored 3 goals without reply to go 4-1 up. Back came Barnstaple and pulled level late in the game, but it wasn't over yet. A reckless challenge in the visitors penalty area resulted in Tom Annear slotting home to give Town all 3 points. Barnstaple will feel that they deserved a point to take away, but in all honesty Falmouth could easily have gone into the half time break at least 3 or 4 goals to the good. Not a game for the faint hearted but certainly good value for money and the neutral. mattelot, Tommy Matthews, The Town Man and 1 other

The Town Man
Falmouth Town 5. Barnstaple 4. A great game at Bickland between two rivals of past Western League days before another healthy sized crowd. The first half was dominated by a Town side still processing the loss of Jack Bray Evans and coach Charlie Davis. Notably, Saltash United and latterly Falmouth Town old boy Toby Clarke was on the bench providing support to Westy in Charlie's absence. Not sure if a permanent arrangement but a great addition to the management team nonetheless. The first half followed a familiar pattern with Town taking the game to their higher ranked opponents. The half-time score was 1-1 but Town could easily have been 4-1 up following a succession of missed chances. In the absence of JBE, Luke Brabyn played down the middle and brought something different with his high energy pressing game and threat on the break with his superior pace. Ollie Walker playing down the right was consistently outpacing Barnstaples left back and it was from one of these runs and crosses that Tim Nixon ghosted in at the far post to head in for Town's first. Barnstaple equalised from a rare attack to make things even going in at half-time. The 2nd half started quietly but within 10 minutes Town had taken the lead again through the tireless Brabyn. Tim Nixon overtook JBE as leading Town scorer on 10 goals after a clinical finish following a break down the left. 20 minutes to go and it would have looked to the neutral observer that the game was won after Brabyn outpaced the visiting defence down the left and converted past the excellent keeper to make it 4-1. However, anyone who has watched Town this season will know that the games never seem to be won easily these days. Barnstaple made some substitutions with a tricky young lad playing down the left and a couple of big lads going up front. Unbelievably, within 15 minutes the game was levelled after a couple of goalmouth scrambles and one clinical shot from the edge of the area. Here we go again we thought but a last ditch attack from Town brought some desperate defending from Barnstaple which resulted in Cam Hutchinson being brought down for a penalty. With no regular penalty taker on the pitch, Tom Annear, who has been one of the most improved and consistent performers this year, stepped up to smash in the penalty and send the F-Troop home happy. 5-4 the final score and Town climb to a respectable 10th in the league. After a traumatic week, it was the faithful and long-serving players Brabyn, Nixon and Annear that prevailed. The ship is not sinking quite yet! silly billy, Quiet Man, Thecupfootballblogger and 4 others

Is it any coincidence that Barnstaple improved dramatically when Stuart Bowker went off ? As for" Super Tom Annear" What a penalty ! In the dying seconds of the game to win it. Calm under pressure ,could teach Harry Kane a thing or two .😁 Quiet Man and Town Fan
Local Footie fan
An important 3 points for Falmouth pushes us up to tenth in the league and now sets us up for a push for a top ten finish in new year. Interestingly I think Barnstable had 9 players under 17 yesterday in squad? so they seem to be rebuilding too and there’s no doubt we certainly beat a good team yesterday. Their goalkeeper is a character isn’t he shouting verbals at Luke Brabyn like “ you can’t miss those chances striker “ and language I can’t use on here! Obviously tactics to put him off! Well Karma does exist and Luke had the last laugh 2 clinical goals etc. Quiet Man, mattelot and Town Fan
Town Fan
Have to agree with everything said about the Falmouth v Barnstaple game yesterday. It was a game of highs and lows for both sides, a good competitive game with plenty of excitement on a freezing cold afternoon. At this point, I think we should give some respect to Barnstaple and their travelling fans who made the journey down to Bickland Park in very difficult conditions. One Barnstaple fan showed me some pictures of the roads where he lived and many were impassable, he said they had to travel via Tiverton and the M5. In the end it was a great victory for Falmouth and three useful points. Looking at the table, all but one of the teams below us have played the same number or more games, while we have games in hand on some of the teams above us. Onward and upward! Richard Chown
Looking at the table the inclusion of Cornish clubs appears to be a positive for the league.
