Foul Throw 3
Torpoint 4 - 2 Buckland Excellent win for the home side and now 4 unbeaten in the league for The Point picking up 8pts. The fit again Ryan Richards up front with Gaz Hird and Jack Alexander caused the Buckland back four problems all afternoon. Hird opened the scoring around half an hour in when Thompson cut back inside the full back on the right hand byline and crossed left footed to Hird to volley home at the back post. The next big chance fell to Buckland when Crocker broke down the right side and a low drive across goal went begging with no one to get on the end of it. A let off for the home side. Neither visiting centre half liked being turned around and one of them was at fault for bringing down Hird in the box for a penalty for 2-0, which Richards despatched calmly. The 3rd goal was worked excellently down the right hand side again when the ball was pulled back from the byline by Paul Heveran and Thommo placed his shot towards goal for Hird to add the finishing touch for 3-0 near the back post. HT Buckland got the next goal with a strong header hitting the underside of the bar and going in from a set piece, which Buckland looked strong from. Torpoint were rattled for 5mins or so but eventually weathered it and came back at the visitors. At 3-1 a superb low driven cross from Richards met Hird again, who placed his shot at the onrushing keeper who made himself big to save. Big miss and big save all in one. A possible turning point but thankfully we did get the all important 3 goal cushion again. Another low Richards cross from the right was controlled and nearly finished by deserved man of the match Thommo for 4-1. More goals should have come but chances squandered with Buckland chasing the game leaving Torpoint’s pacey front 3 on the counter. Any threat from Buckland was marshalled well by our centre halves and set pieces were nullified with Coombes in goal punching/collecting well on a number of occasions when under pressure. Buckland scored a late consolation when a huge drive from a long way out came back off the crossbar for a striker to tap into the empty net with Coombes already out of the way from the original shot. 4-2 FT. A huge win for Torpoint against 5th in the table and a valuable 3pts to take us into the mid table battle rather than the bottom 3 where we were only weeks ago. Long way to go in a new league but the momentum is positive. Marcus Grose, Buckland Jim, mattelot and 1 other 3

Dave Deacon
Falmouth 4, Bridgwater 1 Excellent result and performance from Falmouth this afternoon. In contrast, although it’s the only time I’ve seen promotion seeking Bridgwater this season, they were disappointing. However, despite that and trailing 2-1 at the half-time interval, I thought they did just about shaded the first half, but as we know its goals that win games and Luke Barner (16th min) and Tim Nixon (44th) made sure of that requirement from Town with one apiece well struck efforts beating the visiting ‘keeper Jake Viney. In between those two, Bridgwater pulled one back when Falmouth didn’t deal with a corner and Jack Thorpe headed in to, for a while at least, level the game. But what a time for the home side to go back in front, a minute before the break and it was a beauty from Nixon who is now into double figures for the league. If the game was fairly even in the first half, the second definitely belonged to Falmouth. They went close to scoring with a couple efforts mainly from right wing crosses, but the third in the 72nd minute actually came from a break from Luke Brabyn on the left. He got away and scored with a cracking left-footed effort and the striker looks to be back to the sort of form we saw from him last season. Then with Bridgwater unable to offer much of a fight back, in the final minute Marcello Jones was fouled, the ref game a free-kick outside the box, but after checking with his assistant, changed his decision to a penalty and Jones made no mistake from the spot as Viney moved far too early and Jones just stroked the ball home for what proved to be a well deserved win for Westy’s side. Philheybrookbay
Barnstaple 2 Saltash 0 Bad day at the office. Little more than that. But not as bad as Cadbury Heath away last season. Buckland Jim
Disappointed with the result at Torpoint, we just weren't up to our usual standards today. Full credit to Torpoint, they were up for it from the off and in fairness could have had 5 or 6. Good turnout of away fans dotted around the ground, which I liked a lot. Don't tend to go away very often but the Mill had a nice feel about it. Luke Gibbons, The Torpoint Massive and Foul Throw 3

Gary Hocking
Message sent from Mousehole to Clevedon following yesterday’s game (and posted on Mousehole’s social media). Clevedon’s club officials and supporters really were exemplary yesterday and provided a great reminder that the game we all love is at its best when we compete passionately on the pitch but show comradeship and support off it. With thanks to all at Clevedon. Thecupfootballblogger, mattelot, iand and 11 others
