Paul
Our old friend 'Older' would be coming out with all sorts of stats with this never ending rain. It's turning into a mid season break for grounds teams as there's such little opportunity to do anything. No end in sight this week. Someone turn off that tap. Mrgreen
From 17 December, the west cornwall area hasn’t had a 24hr period without some sort of precipitation. From this date nearly 300mm has hit the ground. While this is not the wettest period I’ve known, it is, nevertheless challenging. As a side note, while snow does undoubtedly make the ground sodden, there is relatively little water in it. As a rough guide a foot of snow is an inch of water. There is obviously, very little that can be done about it. Besides the obvious things such as aeration (when the ground conditions allow) Does anybody use a penetrant type of wetting agent. In basic terms it allow the ground to absorb water faster and more efficiently. Paul

Only in this country 🤪
Paul
That's because all the rain doesn't end up where we need it. Yet there are fields which have disappeared under water. Crazy situation.
Martin Eddy
And more and more countryside is being built on taking away more and more natural drainage.

JonColenzo
Said to @Paul the other day, putting seed down and then a drought setting in during June/ July seems a long, long time ago ,it’ll be a race against time now to get on pitches as soon as dry enough to get them flat before the frost sets in next week. How many storms have swept across the region in the last few weeks alone?
Martin Eddy
Walked across our pitch today, could have done with waders. On the plus side grass is growing in the goalmouth
Paul
Odds on there's still a hose pipe ban in a few months!! Mark Leah and Dave Deacon
Mark Leah
Surprising our main pitch is in good condition just one or two wet areas. 75% of the pitch would have taken machinery if needed. The sand, vertidraining and the slitter is certainly helping. Fingers crossed this dry weather allows us to get on and do something this week. Good luck to everyone and just keep doing your best.
