Byron10
Pensliva 1 torpoint 2 Martindale, White, Pearce, Murray, Quintrell, Heron, Cotter, Northcott, Ferguson, Westall, Babb. Subs: Bays, Chambers, White, Roberts, Clarke. Pearce x1 Babb x1 deserved win for the boys today on a tough/poor pitch. Always a hard place to go pensliva but the boys dug in and despite a below par second half came away with the 3 points to keep the good run going. really good whipped free kick from northcott found Pearce in the box to bundle home which opened the scoring after complete dominance for the first 24 mins. Could of and should of really been 2/3/4 if it wasn’t for lack of composure in the final third. 1 became 2 on 40 mins when Josh Babb was found in the box by MOTM Sam White to nod home. HT 2-0 We started the second half with 10 men as Ferguson got sin binned on 44 mins however this was probably our best spell of the game in terms of possession as pensliva struggled to retain the ball from us. A full complement of players now on the pitch and we must of thought the job was done as we got very sloppy and the game became very scrappy with multiple bad challenges going in from both sides. The hosts got themselves back into the game with there first meaningful attack when a brilliant through ball from the full back found chappers to calmly slot home. From then onwards the game fizzled out and we were able to claim the 3 points with no further pressure. another game another win and now we welcome a weeks break. All the best to pensliva. Martin Hunn
Altarnun 1 St Dominic 2 We travelled to Altarnun on the back of a defeat last weekend, eager to get our first points of the season. We started the better of the two teams and had a flurry of early corners, which created a couple of chances. On 20 minutes we took the lead from another corner. A deep ball in from Francis Roy-Pengelly found Ryan Corey at the back post, he headed back across goal. The home team tried to clear but it fell to Liam Hunn to fire home. 5 minutes later we doubled our lead from another corner, this time Kieren Jasper heading in from close range. 2-0 up and that’s how it stayed until halftime. The second half began with with us nearly getting a third. A long ball from Adam Patterson found Corey again at the back post, his good header across goal somehow missed by Hunn with the goal open from 5 yards. Altarnun started to build some pressure and on the 85th minute got a goal back from a scrappy move. After that they continued to pile pressure on but we stood firm and saw out the remainder of the game to pick up our first victory of the season! Some good performances all round, but it was debutant Oliver Sanders that was awarded man of the match by the visiting committee members, after a solid performance at the back! This week coming the reserves have a friendly away at Lifton on Tuesday, 6.30pm kick off. We then entertain Foxhole at Lovells next Saturday, 2.30pm kick off. Then Sunday is our big fundraiser of the year, ‘Doms Day Out’. Raising money for the club and St Luke’s Hospice, in memory of Chloe Hunn. #UTD 💛🖤 Luke Gibbons and The Badger
