Div 3 West

Carharrack 7 St Just Res 1

Decided to go after all.No point trying to watch from the little covered enclosure - all the WAGS and their tots mill about in front of it (I'm worried that one day a toddler or baby in a pram will get wiped out by a player sliding into a tackle on the touch line, or one will get hammered by the ball), plus youths playing with a football along that touchline (the ball sometimes straying onto the pitch), so this time I set up my chair some 10 yards to the tea hut side of the enclosure. No rain, so quite pleasant and I could see the whole pitch.

Bit one-sided, though St Just weren't as bad as the scoreline suggests. 4 - 0 down at half time -and Carharrack had a penalty saved as well (goals in 12, 15, 31, 34, pen saved on 42), the Tinners pulled one back from a free kick on 51 and looked to have turned a corner, but goals on 61, 74, 84 and 90+1 completed the disastrous opening league fixture for St Just.

New player up front for Carharrack - good at this level but not for higher leagues. Very quick but out of the game for long periods and the type of player that avoids physical stuff. Argues with the ref, too, just what Carharrack don't need.

The lad with glasses was made to leave the pitch after having played in at least three previous league games.  Lack of consistency here. Pitch looking better than for a long time: fair play to the club with limited resources.

Tea still £1 a go, sausage bap for the price of a cup tea at Truro!

Wendron 4ths 0 - 1 Chacewater AFC

Great start to the season for Chacewater.
Hard fought game against a Wendron 4ths side strengthened by a number of 3rd team players.

Both teams Battled for 90 minutes in windy Conditions.

Chacewater got the Deciding goal after 10 minutes from a perfectly delivered free kick from Nick Lasseter with Michael Cruse getting on the end of it to finish well.

With the wind behind us we had a hatful of chances but couldn’t add to the score line.

Second half Chacewater fought hard to defend our lead and a collective effort by all seen us through to get the 3 points.

Chacewater MOTM George Box.

Perranwell res 2 - 3 st Agnes res 3

a bitter defeat for perranwell after having possession for nearly all the game . St Agnes defended superbly limiting perranwells chances .
st Agnes took the lead after a poor clearance/ pass from me went straight to their player who hit it 1st time from about 35 yards out to creep it in just under the bar .
perranwell equalised when a great cross into the box was met by a superb headed finish and not long after a similar goal again was converted.
just before half time at Agnes broke away on a counter attack and their midfielder curls a great finish in to the top corner from the edge of the box to make it 2-2 at half time .
2nd half perranwell had the lions share of possession but couldn’t break through for a decent chance even missing a penalty.

with 2 mins to go st Agnes broke away again and a square pass across the goal bought a save from myself but the follow up was converted for st Agnes to take the lead and the victory .

Absolutely gutted about losing especially as the 1st goal was an error on my part but we look to the next game .

Mawgan 1 - 3 DropshipFC Reserves

A Trip down to the Lizard area, with a nice little village of Ruan Minor.

First game in charge for Shaun Isaacs and Ralph Pascoe.

First half, some great runs from Dan Reeve , and tireless work from the Dropship midfield, created a few chances first half, but the flag was our nemesis with the timing just wasn’t right.

But then the deadlock was broken, Dan reeve timing perfectly and getting through on the goal, and a clinical finish, 1-0 Dropship.

Half time came and few words from the Gaffers, and DropshipFC were back out and came under pressure from Mawgan who played some lovely football and trying to get a equaliser!

Some dogged work from Sennen Craig, chasing the ball down, even hunting 3 or 4 players in the same action, won the ball, and played a lovely ball across for Alex Clifford who slotted home. 2-0

10 seconds from the restart, Mawgan broke down the left wing and crossed for a goal back.

20 to go, and Mawgan pushed, and with that opened up some more space, and with some fresh legs on for Dropship, a counter attack started with Pete Norfolk knocked passed his defender to then calmly play a lovely pass across the 18 yard line, for Alex Clifford to run on to and slot home his second of the game. 3-1

Dropship then defended well for the last 2/3 mins, and saw out a first victory for the new management team! ️

MoTM could have gone to 3/4 players but, it went to George Gaylard. Worked tirelessly and ran for the 90mins!!!

Mention to Dan Reeve who didn’t give up running even though they didn’t all pay off!!!

Brilliant, so new inn titans rise through the leagues and then fold as they’re at a level where they’ll lose more than they win, all move to a division 4 club and it starts all over again 🤦🏻‍♂️🤣🤷‍♂️

talk about massaging your own egos 🤦🏻‍♂️

St Ives Mariners 3-5 St Erme and Godolphin- match report

The saints travelled to Nancegollan for their first away game of the season looking for revenge after the 5-4 defeat last season.

st Ives started strong and were nearly awarded a penalty when Craig S clipped their attacker just outside the box, The saints took the lead tho when Thierry M was found by a lovely ball from Freddie m and was brought down by the Mariners keeper and Brandon M stepped up and calmly slotted it into the bottom corner.

The hosts then scored 3 quick fire goals to take a 3-1 lead after some sloppy defending from the saints, with 2 mins to go before half time Cain T got a goal back with a very calm finish from outside the box.

The saints went in lucky to only be 3-2 down, the saints came out quick out of the blocks and got an equaliser when Brandon M whipped a dangerous corner in which created some confusion and Thierry M fired home to grab his first goal of many for the season,

The saints then took the lead when Thierry M shot was saved but substitute Max P was on hand to tap home the rebound.

Another goal came shortly after when the saints were awarded a free kick, Cain T stepped up and the Mariners keeper made the save but Brandon M was able to squeeze home from the tight angle to give the saints some breathing space,

The hosts threw everything at us but the Saints defence stayed strong and held out to earn a massive 3 points

MOTM- Freddie M who put in a huge shift even covering at full back for the last 10 minutes.

Todays result sees us move upto 2nd in the league table with another massive game coming up next Saturday as we host Pendeen Rovers Reserves in their first game of the season.
