Finally 3 points for the Camels!!
Camelford seemed determined to prove a point after last week's heavy loss to Wendron. Finally fielding a full squad with a strong bench, they looked ready from the outset.

The first half was evenly matched, with both teams playing good football but creating few clear-cut chances. Camelford broke the deadlock when a long clearance was latched onto by Gusterson. With the Truro keeper caught in no man’s land, the veteran striker lobbed the ball from 35 yards, leaving the goalkeeper helpless.

Truro came close to equalizing just before halftime with a strike from the edge of the box that clipped the outside of Camelford's far post.

The second half continued in a similar vein, until a moment of magic between Gussy and Ross Beare. Gus managed to win the ball back in Truro’s corner and clipped a deft ball to Beare on the edge of the box. Beare, with a Paul Scholes-esque volley, planted the ball into the bottom corner.

Camelford looked set to see the game out comfortably, but a rash challenge from captain Wade gave Truro a penalty. Colwill produced a great save from the spot, but Truro managed to score from an impossible angle on the rebound.

The last 10 minutes were an entertaining affair with end-to-end football and some dogged defending from Camelford. Overall, it was a deserved win for Camelford, though Truro’s recent form shows why they've had some impressive victories of late.

The referee handled the game superbly and didn’t put a foot wrong all game.

Wadebridge Town 2 Dobwalls 3

Head Count: 67 (including late comers & bar drifters)

Lovely great quality programme, free of charge at the entrance hut. Special remembrance issue for Mike Yelland 1951-2024 RIP.

Well, this turned into a very entertaining encounter indeed.

Rarely seen such gung-ho, full throttle commitment & enthusiasm for the full 90 minutes (+ plenty of injury/arguing time).

Not always pretty, full of controversy but definitely gripping.

Talk about end to end, the game had everything, certainly The Good, The Bad & The Ugly.

For a 4 quid concession, I really got my moneys worth.

Hard to say which side deserved it more, the match was full of bite size pieces of sublime quality, outrageous blunders, toys out the pram dug-out meltdown & a Referee and Linesmen who will probably need remedial therapy for the foreseeable future.

This was a throwback to how I remembered the SWPL before the FA went daft and sent our better Cornwall sides on 350 mile Tuesday night games.

There was so much that happened in this game, I have no chance of successfully recounting so many incidents and remarkable passages of play (good & bad).

All I shall say, is that it has confirmed that you can still watch a jolly good game at this level, and as much as we moan, me certainly included, there is still life in the old dog yet. Well done Wadebridge (the late clincher will doubtless hurt), well done Dobwalls, you never gave up, despite playing part of the tussle with 9 men. Lastly, but emphatically not least, bravo to the Match Officials, particularly the Referee: Steve Annis.. you deserve a bloody medal for that heroic stand out there.

BODMIN TOWN 0 PENZANCE 3
Penzance made light of the absence of captain Tyler Tonkin, serving a one match ban, and moved up to fourth in the table by virtue of a composed win at Priory Park, stretching an unbeaten run away from home to ten games.
Manager Mark Vercesi stepped into Tonkin’s centre back berth whilst Will Trenoweth continued to deputise in goal for injured Mikey Flores. The defence was asked some early questions with Trenoweth required to pull off good saves from Joe Mundy and Harry Probyn. But, once the storm was weathered, the visitors began to create clear chances of their own. Played in by his brother Sam, Charlie Young smashed a shot against a post before stretching Ollie Sidey to a good save from an Archie Reynolds cross. Jude Tripconey was also denied by the woodwork before Penzance made the breakthrough in the 19th minute. Curtis Smith tenaciously won the ball on the left before feeding Ryan Townson who skilfully planted home his first goal for the Magpies.
Charlie Young again hit the woodwork before notching the second goal ten minutes before the break. Bryn Sturdy brought down Tripconey and, from the penalty spot, Young despatched his second goal in as many games to give his new side a healthy half-time lead.
From a Sam Cox corner, Probyn headed against the Penzance crossbar immediately after the restart. Bodmin’s prospects received a fillip when Tripconey was dismissed for a shove during a 55th minute altercation. But, for the second consecutive week, the Magpies made light of a numerical disadvantage. They limited the home side to just a few chances of note, and even extended the winning margin twenty minutes from time. Charlie Willis crowned another hugely impressive performance with a fine path to Smith wide on the left, and the teenager assuredly fired past Sidey.
“It wasn’t just the three points that was satisfying today, it was the all-round team performance,” opined Vercesi. “We had a little bit of everything. We defended very well, we created a lot of chances and the midfield won their battles. We played the football that we have been asking them to play.”
Bodmin: Ollie Sidey, Harry Probyn, Bryn Sturdy, James Baker (Captain), Tyler Jones, Tom Crowe, Sam Cox, Ash Taylor, Joe Mundy, Noah Crump, Sam Eccleston. Subs: Sonny Dover, Tre Handsford, Henry Ellis
Penzance: Will Trenoweth, Archie Reynolds, Silas Sullivan (Captain), Sam Young, Liam Andrew, Mark Vercesi, Ryan Townson (Jacob Trudgeon 58), Charlie Willis, Charlie Young, Jude Tripconey,  Curtis Smith. Unused subs: Mikey Flores, Darryl Richards
Referee: Stephen McCullough

Wendron 5-0 Callington (HT 2-0)

Goals from Max Roberts Josh Wood Brodie Kemp Billy Stone & Joe Souch made this look like a comfortable win for Wendron but it was a much tougher game than the score suggests.

Callington started well, looked strong and well organised and dominated the first 20 minutes or so. Midway through the half a bullet header from a corner met by Max Roberts put Wendron in front, before a Josh Wood screamer into the top corner doubled the lead a few minutes later.
A third goal for Wendron followed early in the second half. Callington continued to push to get back into the game and frankly looked a very good side but found the Wendron defence defiant and were met with a series of fine saves by Dron keeper Zach Telling.

Two late goals rounded off the win for Wendron after a Callington player went off with a head injury, best wishes to him for a speedy recovery.
