  • Dave Deacon changed the title to RESULTS - Friday & Saturday 27 & 28 September 2024

Took a trip to Wadebridge to watch them play Wendron today i had been to Bodmin Hospital im there looking at the clock thinking im going to miss Kick off so i say how much longer is this going to take Specialist Says you need a Stoma Mr Pearce i say im not having it im going now and off i zoomed to Wadebridge .

Both teams seemed evenly matched but it was Wendron who went in the lead from Josh Wood got to be the fastest player in the league ,

Not long after Wadebridge scored with a great goal from the brilliant Kieron Bishop 1-1

I was hoping to see Brodie kemp play but he didnt which was a shame Wendron with a front 3 of him Reeve and Wood got to be the front 3 around but today it was the front 2 and they where very good will have to wait until Dec 28th to see Wendron again vs Newquay at there ground day after my Birthday so nice win from Newquay will be nice but it will be hard Wendron look very good .

It was good watching the battle today vs Russell May and Matt Lloyd i  gave it a draw like the match should of been would of been a fairer result but the Wendron Sub did blast over a open goal with no one in front of him hell of a miss

Ryan Reeve scored the winning goal and Wendron got the 3 points

My mom for WADEBRIDGE  KIERON BISHOP AND FOR WENDRON JOSH WOOD ref Shaun Edge had a very good as well as his assitants who  controlled the game well

Strange not having Smokie watching the footy beside me but he just wanted to stay in the car sleeping hes not well .

Well done St austell should still do well this season and Wendron will battle Newquay all he way for the title see you on the 28th

One last thing pasties are lovely and the program is the best around and FREE

Bude V Bodmin for Harrison and myself today.
A glorious day for football only spoiled by the football 😮. Only joking 🤭

If I’m being honest, it was a bit scrappy at times, both teams created chances, and wasted them however it was Bude producing the moments of composure and excellence to run out winners.
The first half was end to end, lots of endeavour from both teams. Lots of chances created but both just lacking that composure in the final third. For me, Bude were slightly more dominant and got a reward from slack defending as Rocco Dyer pressed the keeper, who subsequently fluffed his lines and let Dyer take it off his toes for an easy finish. Dyer impressed again today with a directness which will trouble any defender in this division.

Half time 1-0 to the hosts.

The second 45 was played in a similar vain to the first. Bude dominating over all, however Bodmin did have their moments but again not really testing Rowe in the Bude goal. The excellence I spoke of earlier came in the shape of Budes second. Benji Bryant, a second half substitute received a pass some distance from goal. I was actually at the other end of the ground, so it looked about 40 yards out to me 😮, but it might have been 20 or so yards 🤭  and he hit an absolute belter into the top corner. What a strike 👏🏻👏🏻. Bude topped off their second consecutive home win with a lovely third as a long ball upfield found its way to Ben Trenaman who confidently smashed it home. That perhaps was a tade unfair on Bodmin, as I thought Bude deserved the win, but didn’t really see it as a 3-0 win. We’ll take it though 😉
Whilst Dyer impressed me again today, I must mention Alper Eroglu also. He was a constant threat today and never stopped working for the team. A real tricky player who we can see growing in confidence with ever game. Its a shame to name just a couple of players as there were good performances all across the pitch for Bude.
Well done and a well deserved victory.

PENZANCE 2 CALLINGTON TOWN 0
Penzance inflicted on Callington Town only a second league defeat of the season, and extended their own winning run to seven games with a thoroughly competent 2-0 win at Penlee Park. They were however indebted to Mikey Flores who scooped the Man of the Match award, his string of fine saves going a long way to helping the Magpies record a fourth consecutive clean sheet.
The goalkeeper’s heroics began in the third minute when he tipped a looping Lee Robinson header on to the bar. The home side had early chances too, Curtis Smith curling a free-kick over before picking out Jacob Trudgeon with a fine cross, but the latter’s header was off target.
Flores denied Robinson again before Penzance made the break-through just before the half-hour mark, Smith ghosting in front of his marker to guide home a tantalising deep cross from Archie Reynolds. Callington sought to hit back immediately, and Flores acrobatically saved from Kieran Ryall before palming a Robinson shot against his left-hand post.
The visitors continued the onslaught after the break. Frazer Ferris had a shot deflected wide before Robinson was again frustrated by another eye-catching Flores save. Kieran Prescott was also unable to find a way past the inspired gloveman, his powerful drive being cleanly pouched.
With twenty minutes to go, the Magpies got the all-important second goal, vice-captain Silas Sullivan delivering a fine cross from the left from which Charlie Willis emphatically fired home his fourth goal of the season to seal the points.
The win consolidated for Penzance third place in the table, just behind Newquay and Wendron. Reflecting on the lofty position, manager Mark Vercesi said: “With a few different results we might have been higher, but we have played more than others. But at least we are keeping close to the teams at the top and waiting for people to slip up. It is going to be a tight season this.”
Penzance: Mikey Flores, Archie Reynolds, Silas Sullivan, Sam Young (Ryan Townsons 85), Liam Andrew, Tyler Tonkin (captain), Jacob Trudgeon (Darryl Richards 82), Charlie Willis, Lewis Caspall, Curtis Smith, Kameron Collins (Rolandos Samnauskas 76). Unused subs: Will Trenoweth, Mark Vercesi
Callington: Jake Crebin, Jamie Rowlands, Joseph Gill, Harvey Barrett, Finley Newman, Ben Langton (Captain), Kieran Ryall, Kieran Prescott, Lee Robinson, Kev McCallion, Frazer Ferris. Subs: Alex Jacob, Finley Skews, Rhys Lindsell, Connor Pritchard, Will Elliott

Assistants: Alan Hoon, Paul Barker

Heartbreak for Camelford as Newquay Grabs a Last-Minute Winner to Deny the Camels a Well-Earned Point

The game began with excitement even before the first whistle blew, as the town crier welcomed both teams to the pitch. It was a lovely touch on a beautiful sunny day in Newquay.

Newquay quickly took control of the game, using both wings effectively and creating early chances. However, thanks to a few crucial saves from the keeper and some solid defending, Camelford held Newquay at 0-0 for the first 35 minutes.

As frustration grew for Newquay, Camelford started to find their way into the match. Leading the line superbly was the ever-impressive Cardiff, playing a lone role up front. His constant running and tight hold-up play allowed the Camels to move up the pitch and launch a few promising attacks, though none resulted in a clear-cut chance.

Newquay eventually got the breakthrough they were after. A slipped ball found a Newquay player 10 yards out on a sharp angle, and he fired the ball into the net. It was a crucial moment just before half-time, as Camelford had been building momentum.

Camelford came out in the second half with plenty of belief that they could get something from the game, and it paid off. A high boot caught Camels legend and veteran midfielder Andy Boxall on the head in the box, leading to a penalty. With fellow veteran Gusterson unavailable, the young buck Cardiff stepped up and calmly slotted the ball into the corner to level the score.

From then on, Newquay pushed Camelford back, but the Camels remained dangerous on the counter-attack, with both teams creating a few half-chances. The game took a turn when a Camelford substitute, who had only been on the pitch for five minutes, picked up two bookings and was sent off.

With a man advantage and Camelford on the back foot, Newquay found the winner in injury time. The ball fell to Price in the box, and with only the keeper to beat, he sealed the three points with a powerful finish into the bottom corner.

It was devastating for Camelford, who, after 90 minutes of hard work and a promising performance, left with nothing to show for their efforts. Despite the result, Camelford can surely take confidence from the performance, as they are starting to gel well as a team. However, it’s points that matter at the end of the day.

Newquay has built a solid squad this year, and with a few players boasting experience at higher levels, they must now be considered league favorites.

Way too early for such fanciful pipedreams. Especially based upon a late win v Camelford, no disrespect.

I think Mr Gilbert & a resurgent Liskeard may well pour some reality on such pre-planned Newquay parades.

Newquay to go the whole Season unbeaten and Plymouth to get promoted to the Prem so im going to get my season ticket for that i can dream of them getting promoted i never thought they would beat Luton

We will tell how good Newquay are at Christmas when they play Wendron at there ground on the 28th they will have to stop  Josh Wood hes really good i saw Wendron play on Saturday and they had 5 players out .

Newquay got JBE to come back into the team yet but will he be as good as he was before his injury .

Its a bit like James Ward leaving Falmouth and going to Mousehole he is going to be a big loss for Falmouth i cant see who could replace such a fine player

Only resurgent because they are slashing the cash and cashing in on other Teams in the Leagues above not having a game.

'Slashing The Cash' is a new one?

Perhaps it's off one of those Sky Sports sh*t stirring debates?

Are you actually suggesting Liskeard are resurgent (and obviously worrying the  gullible passengers on the Newquay bandwagon) because they have 'slashed' their modest expenditure? 🤪
