Uwdi Krugg Posted Friday at 21:35 Report Share Posted Friday at 21:35 Dobwalls 1 Liskeard Athletic 2 Well attended local derby on a reasonably mild October evening. One cannot fault the effort & commitment from both sides. However, the first hour of this hotly contested encounter can simply be described as 'scrappy, frenetic & muddled'. 1-1 as half time came and went with a subdued queue at the snack bar. The game seemed to spring into life when Liskeard brought the St Austell playmaker Max Gilbert on. The last half hour very much belonged to the visitors as they swarmed through a besieged Dobwalls defence. I'm not a fan of ringers bringing their doubtless charms to the grind of the SWPL, but the 'worldy' match winner from Mr Gilbert was worth the admission fee alone, what a stunning goal. There is a hint Max may be debating a surprise return to the Liskeard ranks. If that comes off, the dubious title-talk claims of biased Newquay & Wendron supporters may need re-calibrating. He certainly orchestrated a 3 point symphony for Liskeard Athletic this evening.. much to the grumbles of angry Dobwalls followers exiting Lantoom Park. Match Rating 6/10 Boosted from a 3/10 courtesy of Max. FeedtheYak and Lafs
Wetsuit Posted Saturday at 06:43 Report Share Posted Saturday at 06:43 ‘ that’s what we pay big money for ‘ liskeard bench let themselves down again deserved the win but drafting in players. Really. Obviously a bit concerned of Dobwalls form of late.
The Governor Posted Saturday at 06:58 Report Share Posted Saturday at 06:58 Nothing changes wetsuit. If clubs feel that their squad is not good enough then why not being in better players rather than using other clubs players? Unfortunately the rules allow it. Wetsuit Posted Saturday at 07:05 Report Share Posted Saturday at 07:05 How do the regular players feel when they are put on the bench to make way. ? Saying that at 1 - 1 Dobwalls we’re still in it and might of snatched something on a different night. Good luck Newquay

FeedtheYak Posted Saturday at 09:06 Report Share Posted Saturday at 09:06 A real competitive game of football last night. Liskeard just had that quality to bring off the bench after it looked even with both teams working hard. Some real quality from a good player the difference on the night. Not sure who was permanent or can be classified as ‘ringers’. However, history shows with ‘ringers’ and Bodmin this don’t work for a club long term. Also, if they manage to get promoted the same players are dropping away from the clubs after they’ve gone up so likely to happen again. 100%cornish Posted Saturday at 16:56 Report Share Posted Saturday at 16:56 This playing for 2 teams should be stopped look at the Liskeard Bench last night Dan Jennings , Max Gilbert , Curtis Damerll , Cory Harvey its a farce How can you leave players of that Calibre on the Bench and bring in Ringers from Other clubs needs to be stopped last week you had Truro team players like Dan Rooney playing for the reserves its just not on really Just realised you had ringers like Gilbert and Damerell sat on the bench while other Ringers played instead of them . Just hope when Newquay come to play LISKEARD its on a Saturday and not midweek but Newquay would still win

100%cornish Posted Saturday at 17:21 Report Share Posted Saturday at 17:21 Watched Newquay grind out a win this afternoon , 1st half i thought Holsworthy where the better chances with the gale force wind in there favour 0-0 ht 2nd half and Newquays turn to have the wind in there favour Aaron Dilley had to go off injured to be replaced by Ross Fallens Free Kick and we all know where this is going 1-0 Screamer of a free kick by specialist Cam Turner Goal No 2 from Lucas POTTS who was having his best game in a Newquay shot he miss hit his shot into the ground and it went up and over the Holsworthy goalie . Goal No 3 and it had to be Louis PRICE with a powerful shot after good Newquay team play Holsworthy pulled a goal back near the end of the game much to Brodies Annoyance who like keeping clean sheets 3- 1 ft Callum McConie let me down i had him down to get a hat trick maybe he will get it next week vs Axminister i will be at Wadebridge watching them play Truro Res in the cup where they will play the Walter league cup was suppose to of been at Truros ground but it has been switched . Ok my Mom Newquay Cam Turner Holsworthy no5 The ref was ok but i dont know how he never even booked the Holsworthy player for a bad foul on Josh EVANS another ref may of sent him off i know of 1 for sure would of but Josh didnt roll about on the ground he got up and carried on

There has always been numerous views as to whether reserve teams should be playing in the SWPL, it was a live topic when Plymouth Argyle used to field a side in it. Quite possible that we could see either Falmouth Town or Helston Athletic having a reserve side in the SWPL next season, so the questions will keep coming. 100%cornish Posted Saturday at 17:31 Report Share Posted Saturday at 17:31 You say about a Reserve side playing a Truro 1st team player to get him fit instead of the lad that usually plays i wouldnt call that fair and Jamie Lowry playing but thats good to help the young Truro side out Certain teams are doing it to much while others just play there usual sides i suppose because they cant afford to pay these ringers like the so called bigger clubs Just hope Newquay dont go that way dont think they would they got so many talented youngsters to pick from

I would say that having players such as Dan Rooney and Jamie Lowry (who have both played in the Football League) alongside them can only help with that. Their is a big difference between what they are doing, and SWPL sides pulling in step 5 (and above) players for guest appearances. I have been reading and contributing to this forum for around 13 years now, I would say that "ringers" and the use of them, has been one of the most discussed topics of this time. trudge80 and Luke Gibbons

100%cornish Posted yesterday at 10:43 Report Share Posted yesterday at 10:43 I love watching Liskeard play i saw them play severel times at different grounds last season really entertaining side .So many good players left like the lad Mullis ,Merrin and the big centre forward Mike Smith . Liskeard are coming back now after a bad start they got really good players and Matt Andrew there now are a strong side so why do they need to get ringers in when they have players like Dan Jennings on the bench and surprised to see Max GILBERT and Curtis Damerell sitting on the bench surprised St Austell allowed that when they pay they to play for them Curtis Damerell hardly ever seems to play for St Austell i saw him play in pre season alongside Adam Carter and it just didnt work then Liam Eddy came on to play alongside Carter and they hit it off straight away . Surprised me Max Gilbert hasnt made such a impact for St Austell he was the best player in the league last year in my opinion Liskeard should get him back its where he belongs . Look forward to seeing Liskeard play going to be a interesting fight for the league but i got to stick with my team Newquay but if they dont win the league i hope Wendron do. Fine ground even though i took me over 2 hours to find the ground for the Senior Cup Final ,Wendron got the lot they wouldnt look out of place in a higher league but would the players want to do the travelling i think not St Austell and Blazey have found that out i look at the Blazey team list and they never seem to have a settled side and they seem to sign anybody some of the signings they make are questionble . As long as no one comes stiffing around my team Newquay thats alright they wouldnt leave anyway . Ok thats my lot for this week nice trip to my favourite Ground next week Wadebrige so get 1 of those lovely Pasties put back for me ladies and 1 of the nice programs if any old programs are going i would take them off your hands like where given to the man in front of me at the Wadebridge vs Wendron game . Dont know if i will be bringing SMOKIE hes got a tumour behind his eye and is too old to be operated on but he enjoyed watching Newquay yesterday out of his 1 good eye Have a good week fellow supporters and enjoy the liquid sunshine as long as its nice next Saturday to watch the Bridgers play i will be there in my usual place clicking away as usual Uwdi Krugg

RichieBlue
A great win Friday night against a really strong Dobwalls side. The addition of Heveran creatinly helped but we are looking much stronger at the back anyway. Good to see Gilbert back, rumour is that is full time as he wasn't enjoying things at St Austell. I got sent Dammerel's quote from X about him being full time as well which is a huge signing for us and puts more pressure on Newquay. May be time to move on from Jennings, I know he barely played Friday but he looked completely disinterested. He's yet to score this season and I'd be brining back Bartlett and moving him on. The gap to Newquay is 4 pts, even though both the Peppermints and The Blues haven't quite played a 3rd of their fixtures yet, it's starting to feel like the 2 games between them will decide the title.
