St Blazey club statement.

Both guys can walk away with their heads held high, think a little more time they could’ve improved. Done a great job IMO and some results could’ve went another way.

Going to be a tough job going in at this stage of the season with players already tied down. But a great club, I’d imagine some big names from times gone or top end of SWPL west league managers would be the candidates.

Tough decision made by the club but as current custodians the committee have to do what they feel is right for St Blazey AFC.

Always enjoyed talking to Brad and Moony for the podcast and indeed they can leave with heads high because as the club has pointed out - they brought a league title to Blaise Park for the first time in 17 years!

A club steeped in history, the vacancy deserves plenty of interest.

As a friend of Brad and moon’s I know how hard they have worked since the day they took on the job at blazy . Proper football men that understand the game and the stress , time and effort it requires to be managers . Travelling down to blazy weekly and always out watching games . I feel they have fell victim to a general shortage of players that have the desire , commitment and overall ability to play at this standard . This is in no way a dig at the current squad it’s merely pointing out the strength in depth and the merry go around of most Cornish clubs going for the same names and players .

I know fans and supporters down here are happy to see the amount of clubs currently competing at step 5 but I think we need to see that the lack of players to go around here is the reason why a lot of the Cornish clubs sit towards the bottom of the league . It’s a cut off county with a lot of teams at all levels and not the players to go around .

I’ve been out scouting with Brad and moons and trying to find players that want to travel and can compete week in week out is a difficult process .

money is too much of a factor for me in the game down here and over inflated offers to playing paying over the odds drives the market up and makes it hard to compete with lesser budgets .

personally I felt these guys did the best they could with that situation and the  constant rebuilds they have had to go through with the squad at Blazy is a credit to how hard they both have worked .

Rome wasn’t built in a day sometimes you have to take the rough with the smooth and believe in the process .

I feel they would have turned it around and I wish them both all the best . Football down here will be a worse place without them and two managers I’ve got time for for sure .

all the best gents

Here's a mad suggestion regarding the money being offered which will never happen - if it's too much of a factor, perhaps it would be good for all managers to agree amongst themselves not to offer more than an agreed reasonably limited figure! :)

In an ideal world this would be great Dave and mean players would pick clubs for the right reasons .

money at lower levels  none contract is only meant to be “ expenses  paid “ anyway  If it was monitored properly I can imagine clubs all over would be in a heap of trouble .

If a club pays for a coach to an away game for instance which could cost say £800 quid . Thats expenses paid . Should a player expect full packet or a small amount say for food and drink ?

players now though class it as a second earnings , holiday fund , car finance heard the lot tbh .

i work with a budget myself and it’s become part of the game  but find it over inflated for sure.

Like ive said on the podcast and above the player pool down here isn’t huge to so it’s very much highest bidder wins player power and with so many clubs trying to compete in that western league against clubs from Bristol area and beyond where the scope to find players is vast .

realistically clubs need to work within there means and buy into longevity , which will include ups and downs along the way .

Blazy are now tasked with finding a manager when players are settled at clubs , with possible unrest with current players that would be loyal to Brad and Moons .

They could of worsened their plight here

This is a good insight provided by Simon. It truly depicts the current state of play regards The Western League, especially when considering geographical logistics and player bungs (expenses).

Surely it's time to voice some common sense to the FA.. and individuals bank rolling certain clubs, that a return to a vibrant, competitive, entertaining South West Peninsula League is the route map for sensible Cornwall based Football?

Not sure what the St Blazey goal is here... The managers have had success over their time at the club and now get moved on without anyone lined up! Hobbs won't do it nor can I see anyone that's already with a club leaving (Washam has been discussed, he should stay away until next year). Sacking managers within the season is a recipe for disaster. Clubs will now be swirling for the better players.

Why not just stick with the season? Try to recruit one or two? Talks of increasing a budget are utterly ridiculous, clubs work within their means and if that means a tough season or relegation then it is what it is at this level. I know the other Cornish clubs have picked up results but they've all been struggling and not moved their managers on. Torpoint lost 10 on the bounce and a few good weekends have moved up!

Richardson and Moon will be back somewhere no doubt. St Blazey, let's see how the recruitment goes.

Gap of nearly 10 days now until the next game, home to Brixham on Weds the 16th.

Perhaps this break in the fixtures made the St Blazey committee think that this was the time to make a change, and that they believe the new person (or persons) will be in place and been able to bring new players in by then.
